What's for Homework?

click above for current week

Each week I send home a homework sheet which includes a weekly conduct grade space.

The students record their daily conduct based on his/her daily behavior

which is recorded in Class DOJO.

Parents or guardians are asked to initial each evening as an indication

the page has been viewed.

Homework sheets include MUST Dos and enrichment activities.

The must dos will be turned into me,

some daily, some by the specific due date, and so by Fridays.

Families need flexibility for getting homework done...

If you find your nightly routine is over whelming for your 1st grader

contact his/her teacher for a modified plan.

Family Time, Art, Music, Sports, and Dance are assets to your child's learning.

2 WEEKS into the START of SCHOOL

Hi Everybody!

We have been quite the busy nest with our parliament of wise ones!

My firsties are the best and already so engaged in learning!

The group shares a witty since of humor with their teacher and is definitely a

HOOT to listen in on classroom conversations.

I enjoy sharing good children's literature to make a point about rules and procedures.

It seems to be really working because so many procedures have already become routine.

YAY!

Below are a few of the favorite books I have read to the class so far.

I think this was the kids' fav!

Kids First Day

Today was the kids' first day back to school, and I must say I have one terrific bunch of students! I love this class!! They are inquisitive, sharp, and fun.

Our focus, as with any first day, was rules and procedures. We explored the framework of Daily 5, and reviewed expectations for read to self. In addition we discovered the five finger rule and practiced our reading stamina as a class...we read 5 WHOLE MINUTES without a sound in the classroom.w.amazon.com/Brand-new-Pencils-Books-Gilbert-Friends/dp/0060726164

Daily 5- Our Reading Framework

Collaborative Group Expectations

Sunday, August 2, 2015

We start school on Tuesday, August 5th and the students return on Thursday, August 7th.
This year I will continue to use the App, Class Dojo.

classdojo
The focal point for Class Dojo is classroom management and behavior tracking/reporting.  Teachers provide students with instant feedback regarding the behavioral choices they are making by awarding (and/or subtracting) points.  Parents are encouraged to be engaged through messages, photos, and voice notes from the teacher.  Class Dojo’s YouTube videowill give you a good idea of what it has to offer your classroom.
