Move-In Complete: This is the Space

Last week with the help of two of my grand kiddies, I got "my stuff" moved to my new room.  I love the huge windows and the view! However, we might be a tad short on space.  I'll have max 19 firsties- another plus!

Here is my "make-over" crew!
Below are some pics and be sure to check back for some updates on progress.

Daily 5 Choice Flip Chart

Working on some flip charts to use with The Daily 5 by the Sisters: Gail Boushey and Joan Moser.

Since all students have a unique number in my class, I will have students drag their numbers to empty spaces to select their stations for the rotation.  I am hoping this will help with the student "choice", component on our teacher evaluation rubric, throughout all the stations.  Here is what I have thus far.  Email me if you would like this template.

I would also appreciate any feedback.  Thank you!

Sunny Sunday Reading

Here are some great chapter books I grabbed from Posh Diva's Sight. We have been reading aloud and independently the Tree House series so know your kiddos would want to continue those for sure!

Summer Is Here!

Hi everybody!

I've finished my first year of teaching self-contained Gifted-Kinders! What an amazing adventure we have had.  We enjoyed our learning together so much that we will loop to 1st Grade next year.  Hence the new blog name. Anybody have experience with looping or gifted 1st? Please leave a comment below.

I am super excited about our next journey and we physically will be moving to a new room (packed up and ready to go just waiting for the room to be cleaned first :-) and the OK from head custodian, a great guy by the way!

Parents, what are you doing this summer with the kiddos? I'm hanging with S & T. We went to the library yesterday and signed up for the summer reading club. Here is another link to the Kids Library Page.

What books are you reading?

My Favorite Place by Ms. Webb's Kinders

Here's a little video I made from drawings that the kids did about their favorite places in our home town, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Thanks to Garth Brooks for singing about our home, "Calling Baton Rouge".

Daylight Savings Time

I made it through the day after daylight savings time started. All the kids were just as tired as I was.
Looking forward to learning about Celtic customs and studying the art of MC Escher during our geometry unit.
